The plasma actives and increases the surface energy of the material due to high reactivity of the compounds that form the plasma, they are able to break the bonds that are on the surface to form new bonds with functional groups, which activate the surface improving wetting properties and adhesion.

Today, the plasma is not only used to clean and activate the surfaces, using the plasma can get corrosion resistant surfaces, hydrophobic surfaces, non-stick surfaces...
